The supporters of TSV 1860 München booed when Werder Bremen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jochen Ballheim didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frederic Burkhard got free with Heribert Krupp in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes into the match, Werder Bremen's goalkeeper Heribert Krupp had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arthur Link. In the 15th minute of the match TSV 1860 München got a corner. Werder Bremen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Frederic Burkhard ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on TSV 1860 München's corner Frederic Burkhard fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Heribert Krupp quite easily take care of the ball. Ole Kühn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Heribert Krupp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arthur Link in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Heribert Krupp prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of TSV 1860 München booed when Werder Bremen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingmar Burgsmüller didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ole Kühn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matthias Barnick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Heribert Krupp made a huge save. Heribert Krupp was a little too slow when Matthias Barnick got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 3-0. Ole Kühn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Heribert Krupp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 38 minutes of play, TSV 1860 München's Serge Kubat made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Heribert Krupp was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jacek Rüschenbaum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keith Novak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Keith Novak made a kick off. Björn Isele kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. When TSV 1860 München's Ole Kühn in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Werder Bremen's goalie prevented a goal. 55 minutes into the game, Heiko Wohlert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Werder Bremen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave TSV 1860 München the free kick. Heiko Wohlert hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Werder Bremen's Heribert Krupp played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur Link in the 57th minute of play. Heribert Krupp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ole Kühn, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, Ole Kühn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. TSV 1860 München's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ole Kühn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 72 minutes into the game, Matthias Barnick cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Heribert Krupp was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 82 minutes of play, TSV 1860 München's Ole Kühn made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Heribert Krupp was left in no man's land by his defense there! 86 minutes into the match, Werder Bremen's goal looked a bit too open when Ole Kühn came free, but Heribert Krupp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ole Kühn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. TSV 1860 München's Ole Kühn got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Heribert Krupp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arthur Link, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Werder Bremen getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Björn Isele hit a great ball. TSV 1860 München walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
