Eugen Häfner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Kohlert having to interfere. Eugen Häfner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Niclas Gerdes charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niclas Gerdes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 18 minutes into the match, SG Obercrinitz's goal looked a bit too open when Maximilian Pletz came free, but David Osthoff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. David Osthoff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uno Vogel in the 19th minute of play. If André Goy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the SG Obercrinitz defense, Maximilian Pletz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Osthoff. The SG Obercrinitz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Osthoff should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Klefel during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hannover 96's Harry Zirwes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SG Obercrinitz. Eugen Häfner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Connor Kohlert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 36th minute by Dennis Vaerst got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. SG Obercrinitz's Stephan Deckers got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eugen Häfner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Connor Kohlert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Uno Vogel to make the kick off. David Osthoff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niclas Gerdes in the 58th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SG Obercrinitz's Eugen Häfner got a free kick in the 59th minute. André Goy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximilian Pletz's late challenge caught a SG Obercrinitz's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maximilian Pletz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Hannover 96 getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Maximilian Pletz hit a great ball. Hannover 96's Connor Kohlert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Goy in the 73rd minute of play. In the 78th minute, Eugen Häfner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. André Goy took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Connor Kohlert. Connor Kohlert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Connor Kohlert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugen Häfner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Hannover 96's Niclas Gerdes got a free kick in the 85th minute. André Goy might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Connor Kohlert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. André Goy ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eugen Häfner in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Connor Kohlert saved Hannover 96 from getting behind. In the 90th minute, André Goy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eugen Häfner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Connor Kohlert having to make a save. 93 minutes into the game, SG Obercrinitz's Eugen Häfner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Connor Kohlert made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. There was no doubt that SG Obercrinitz were the better team. SG Obercrinitz's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
