Bruce Korsus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Kohlert having to interfere. Michael Bährchen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Connor Kohlert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute Bruce Korsus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Connor Kohlert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bruce Korsus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Connor Kohlert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michael Bährchen struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Connor Kohlert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Auermühle. Connor Kohlert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Bährchen in the 22nd minute of play. Uno Vogel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Eckard Tilk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Auermühle's goalkeeper Eckard Tilk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eckard Tilk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uno Vogel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michael Bährchen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 35 minutes, Bruce Korsus made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Hannover 96's Connor Kohlert tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Eckard Tilk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maximilian Pletz in the 46th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Hannover 96's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Bährchen came free, but Connor Kohlert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Bruce Korsus made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruce Korsus in the 51st minute of play forced Hannover 96's goalkeeper Connor Kohlert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Connor Kohlert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Bährchen in the 53rd minute. Maximilian Pletz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maximilian Pletz charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maximilian Pletz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Auermühle booed when Hannover 96 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niclas Gerdes didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Axel Wohlleben fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Auermühle's protests and gave Axel Wohlleben a yellow card for diving instead. Auermühle's Eckard Tilk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Pletz in the 81st minute of play. Henrik Brock kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Maximilian Pletz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximilian Pletz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Eckard Tilk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Michael Bährchen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Connor Kohlert was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Michael Bährchen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Connor Kohlert made a huge save. Auermühle played a much better game than Hannover 96 and deserved their victory. The Hannover 96 players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
