After 8 minutes, Jakob Murmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hamburger SV and the Ohlenhard FSV players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th match minute, Hamburger SV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jakob Murmann to maneuver through the defense. After 12 played minutes Ohlenhard FSV got a freekick which was hit by Graciano Fazio. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Gretel Lindenthal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ohlenhard FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Gretel Lindenthal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan Hänssler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michael Vreven kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Jan Hänssler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rappo Ottmar in the 26th minute of play. Rappo Ottmar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jan Hänssler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute Rappo Ottmar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Hänssler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan Hänssler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rappo Ottmar's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. The supporters of Ohlenhard FSV booed when Hamburger SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Vreven didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Rappo Ottmar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jan Hänssler was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Jakob Murmann succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 46th playminute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rappo Ottmar made a kick off. Rappo Ottmar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rappo Ottmar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Hänssler having to interfere. After having played for 69 minutes, Gretel Lindenthal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ohlenhard FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gretel Lindenthal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hermann Kraus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan Hänssler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rappo Ottmar, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Rappo Ottmar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Gretel Lindenthal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle sounded Ohlenhard FSV left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hamburger SV.
