In the 13th minute Alexander Karger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Dickhut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Filzbuch booed when Molkenberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lou Hauck didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albert Dickhut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Schock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexander Karger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manfred Königshaus's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Klaus Bettinger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. When the match clock showed 27 minutes, the score became 0-1 when André Schock sped through Molkenberg's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Albert Dickhut. Albert Dickhut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Schock, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Bartholomäus Paul struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Klaus Bettinger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Molkenberg. Bartholomäus Paul might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Klaus Bettinger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bartholomäus Paul ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Molkenberg getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Remo Mielich hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for André Schock to strike the kick off in the second half. Bartholomäus Paul scored 1-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Klaus Bettinger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 57 minutes, Bartholomäus Paul managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Molkenberg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bartholomäus Paul was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bartholomäus Paul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 60th minute, Ralph Thomaschewski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bartholomäus Paul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Klaus Bettinger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Dickhut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Schock, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Alexander Karger put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Albert Dickhut. Ralph Thomaschewski kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. If Manfred Königshaus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 77 minutes into the match, Filzbuch's goal looked a bit too open when Manfred Königshaus came free, but Klaus Bettinger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Manfred Königshaus came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Molkenberg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manfred Königshaus couldn't finish the play. Molkenberg's Bartholomäus Paul couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 91st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Filzbuch. After a defensive mix-up in Filzbuch's zone, Manfred Königshaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Klaus Bettinger came out of the goal and Manfred Königshaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
