The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Detlef Mohs's late challenge caught a FC Berlin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raphael Wuttke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raphael Wuttke struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Kristian Stier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Edoburg. Gunter Knoll showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Crispin Stadler, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. If Eckard Mahler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Edoburg's Raphael Wuttke got a free kick in the 61st minute. Raphael Wuttke struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Edoburg's Eckard Mahler got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Despite being the better team, Edoburg failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
