After a defensive mix-up in Bad Schussenried's zone, Hanno Hampen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rochus Hovermann came out of the goal and Hanno Hampen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eppo Czwenk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thies Reck in the 8th minute of play. August Lautwein might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rochus Hovermann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. August Lautwein ran back to his position shaking his head. Eppo Czwenk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Wille in the 15th minute of the match. Harald Deinbeck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Eppo Czwenk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20thth minute of the game Harald Deinbeck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kerpen's Eppo Czwenk was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Thies Reck came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Bad Schussenried fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thies Reck couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute, Günter Baur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. August Lautwein fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rochus Hovermann having to interfere. Günter Baur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Rochus Hovermann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bad Schussenried's Rochus Hovermann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Bad Schussenried from getting a goal against them. Werner Bäuerle charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Werner Bäuerle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Bad Schussenried:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Kerpen:s goal. Pekko Gmelin placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 54th match minute, Bad Schussenried was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raphael Watzek to maneuver through the defense. Rochus Hovermann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from August Lautwein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eppo Czwenk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Harald Deinbeck in the 69th minute. A collision led to Bad Schussenried getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Simon Wille hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, Kerpen's goalkeeper Eppo Czwenk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harald Deinbeck. Kerpen's Eppo Czwenk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Kerpen from getting a goal against them. After 77 played minutes Kerpen got a freekick which was hit by Hagen Bummel. The long shot by Lino Pietsch in the 78th minute really tested Eppo Czwenk's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 80 minutes into the game, Bad Schussenried's Harald Deinbeck nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eppo Czwenk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The supporters of Bad Schussenried booed when Kerpen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Günter Baur didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thies Reck struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Eppo Czwenk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bad Schussenried. Pekko Gmelin hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After 95 minutes of play, Kerpen's August Lautwein made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rochus Hovermann was left in no man's land by his defense there! There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Kerpen fully deserved thier win.
