Valerian Nowak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Lothar Schub fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kerpen's protests and gave Lothar Schub a yellow card for diving instead. If August Lautwein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. David Strasbach charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Strasbach the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eppo Czwenk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cornelis Stotz in the 90th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Kerpen fully deserved thier win.
