In the 42nd minute of the game, Jan Bertermann landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Fred Rössler fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Adana Demirspor's protests and gave Fred Rössler a yellow card for diving instead. 45 minutes into the game, Martin Koenecke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jordan Matthies was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Adana Demirspor's Clemens Brandow got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ekkehard Mintzel got free with Jordan Matthies in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute Martin Koenecke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordan Matthies saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Koenecke in the 76th minute of play forced Adana Demirspor's goalkeeper Jordan Matthies to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sebald Majewski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Kochmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Ekkehard Mintzel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordan Matthies having to interfere.
