After a defensive mix-up in FSV STENDAL 23's zone, Mark Behling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joachim Jank came out of the goal and Mark Behling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was beautiful to see Borussia Mönchengladbach's Alonso Kneissli in action when he in the 8th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Joachim Jank stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mark Behling's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilio Unold in the 16th minute of play forced Borussia Mönchengladbach's goalkeeper Jörg Gabriel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jörg Gabriel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Unold, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Borussia Mönchengladbach's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Unold came free, but Jörg Gabriel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emilio Unold took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jörg Gabriel. Jörg Gabriel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Borussia Mönchengladbach's Jörg Gabriel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilio Unold in the 25th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, FSV STENDAL 23's goalkeeper Joachim Jank had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mark Behling. Jörg Gabriel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilio Unold in the 30th minute of the match. Jörg Gabriel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Unold, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When Mark Behling got free in front of the goal in the 34th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Joachim Jank was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Jörg Gabriel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerold Zinnbauer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Gerold Zinnbauer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FSV STENDAL 23 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 40th minute Finn Guenther shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jörg Gabriel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Gerold Zinnbauer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jörg Gabriel. Borussia Mönchengladbach's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerold Zinnbauer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Rainer Innerwinkler kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After the first half FSV STENDAL 23 were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mark Behling to make the kick off. Gerold Zinnbauer scored 0-4 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jörg Gabriel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Joachim Jank made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erasmus Frowerk in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Manfred Desoi notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Borussia Mönchengladbach's Jörg Gabriel. Jörg Gabriel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 67th minute Finn Guenther shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jörg Gabriel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 69 minutes, Rainer Innerwinkler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borussia Mönchengladbach and the FSV STENDAL 23 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FSV STENDAL 23 booed when Borussia Mönchengladbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rainer Innerwinkler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Emilio Unold kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jörg Gabriel. That made the score 0-7 in the 80 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmus Frowerk in the 84th minute of play forced FSV STENDAL 23's goalkeeper Joachim Jank to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Borussia Mönchengladbach getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Alonso Kneissli hit a great ball. Christoph Höhle took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jörg Gabriel. Borussia Mönchengladbach's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jörg Gabriel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerold Zinnbauer in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute Finn Guenther shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jörg Gabriel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerold Zinnbauer scored 0-8 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jörg Gabriel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. FSV STENDAL 23's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
