With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adrian Mahlberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Niclas Hupp charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niclas Hupp the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th minute, Niclas Hupp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Mahlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Friedrich Gotthard, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. When Mark Sturz came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Hövelhof FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mark Sturz couldn't finish the play. In the 13th minute Friedrich Gotthard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Mahlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Niko Hüsken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Samir Mackenthun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borussia Dortmund's supporters rose to their feet, but Samir Mackenthun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luca Huthmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Friedrich Gotthard in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Mahlberg saved Borussia Dortmund from getting behind. If Mark Sturz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the game, Helmut Mense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borussia Dortmund's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hövelhof FSV the free kick. Helmut Mense kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Borussia Dortmund's Adrian Mahlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Friedrich Gotthard in the 29th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Friedrich Gotthard cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Adrian Mahlberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Samir Mackenthun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luca Huthmann having to interfere. Friedrich Gotthard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Friedrich Gotthard was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Hövelhof FSV's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Safet Kohlstedt got free with Adrian Mahlberg in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adrian Mahlberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Friedrich Gotthard in the 62nd minute. 64 minutes into the match, Mark Sturz notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Borussia Dortmund's Adrian Mahlberg. Adrian Mahlberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 69th minute, Friedrich Gotthard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hövelhof FSV's Friedrich Gotthard got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 73rd match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarik Köpsel to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Hövelhof FSV booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helmut Mense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Friedrich Gotthard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mark Sturz might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adrian Mahlberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mark Sturz ran back to his position shaking his head. Adrian Mahlberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Friedrich Gotthard in the 91st minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Safet Kohlstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hövelhof FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Safet Kohlstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Safet Kohlstedt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Hövelhof FSV left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Borussia Dortmund.
