An unexpectedly hard shot by Samir Mackenthun in the 10th minute of play forced Mount Ararat's goalkeeper Georg Odenthal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arp Huthmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tarik Köpsel kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Niko Hüsken got free with Georg Odenthal in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adrian Mahlberg came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Mount Ararat's Arp Huthmann. But to his dismay, Arp Huthmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With his leg Georg Odenthal managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Borussia Dortmund's Niko Hüsken fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 25 minutes, Arp Huthmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mount Ararat's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arp Huthmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Mount Ararat booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarik Köpsel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute Arp Huthmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Mahlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Arp Huthmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adrian Mahlberg was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. 31 minutes into the game, Pascal Rösch was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mount Ararat's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Borussia Dortmund the free kick. After 31 played minutes Mount Ararat got a freekick which was hit by Pascal Rösch. Niko Hüsken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Georg Odenthal having to interfere. In the 37th match minute, Mount Ararat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Töpfer to maneuver through the defense. Samir Mackenthun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Georg Odenthal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. If Niko Hüsken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mount Ararat's Arp Huthmann got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eidur Cramer was the one to do the kick off. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Eidur Cramer came free, but Adrian Mahlberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Borussia Dortmund's Adrian Mahlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eidur Cramer in the 78th minute of play. Adrian Mahlberg came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Mount Ararat's Arp Huthmann. But to his dismay, Arp Huthmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Helmut Mense's late challenge caught a Mount Ararat's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Helmut Mense helped the player get up and apologised. If Arp Huthmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Borussia Dortmund's Adrian Mahlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eidur Cramer in the 92nd minute of play. In the 97th minute of the match Georg Kracht shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adrian Mahlberg showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Borussia Dortmund supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mount Ararat's performance. The match ended with a win for Mount Ararat.
