The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 10 minutes into the match, SV Plüderhausen's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Aschemann came free, but Claus Apel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kamil Hof fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claus Apel having to interfere. Claus Apel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Aschemann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th match minute, SV Plüderhausen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Piesche to maneuver through the defense. Kamil Hof in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Claus Apel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 21 minutes into the match, Klause FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Hennig came free, but Wolfgang Gläßel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wolfgang Gläßel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ocke Holzner in the 26th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ocke Holzner to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Edwin Halfpape shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claus Apel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind SV Plüderhausen's goalkeeper Claus Apel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Klause FSV's Curt Leonhardt suffered a sore knee after 59 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Thoralf Schapiro's late challenge caught a Klause FSV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thoralf Schapiro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SV Plüderhausen's Thoralf Schapiro got a free kick in the 60th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Klause FSV's Douglas von Stein tried to score from far away in the 61st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Kamil Hof got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kamil Hof fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claus Apel having to interfere. Wolfgang Gläßel was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Ocke Holzner capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ocke Holzner really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Kevin Aschemann might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claus Apel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevin Aschemann ran back to his position shaking his head. 95 minutes into the match, Kamil Hof had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Claus Apel. SV Plüderhausen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kamil Hof was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. SV Plüderhausen's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
