SG DYNAMO DRESDEN's supporters rose to their feet, but Yildiz Schmugge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Davor Mielers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wastl Hohmann charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wastl Hohmann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 34 played minutes Bockenbaum got a freekick which was hit by Wastl Hohmann. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Brunsch in the 36th minute of play forced Bockenbaum's goalkeeper Davor Mielers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wastl Hohmann was shown his second yellow card after 37 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Bockenbaum getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Wastl Hohmann hit a great ball. Edgar Brunsch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davor Mielers having to interfere. Edgar Brunsch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Martin Pilz in the 65th minute of play forced SG DYNAMO DRESDEN's goalkeeper Dick Bremke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Karl Martin Pilz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dick Bremke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Martin Pilz in the 72nd minute of the match. Yildiz Schmugge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Davor Mielers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
