With a left leg Jochen Teufel saved Moringen FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Moringen FC's Stanislaus Maringer got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Gunter Schröder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jochen Teufel having to interfere. With a little luck, FC Simon 1978's Mesut Hirtzel got control of the ball when Sierk Clauren tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th play minute Sierk Clauren came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mesut Hirtzel. 1-0. Mesut Hirtzel stood somewhat misplaced when Sierk Clauren came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 42 minute. Mesut Hirtzel came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Moringen FC's Theo Horsch. But to his dismay, Theo Horsch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gunter Schröder to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, FC Simon 1978 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Beck to maneuver through the defense. Sierk Clauren struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Mesut Hirtzel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. When Ture Barth fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Simon 1978's protests and gave Ture Barth a yellow card for diving instead. Mesut Hirtzel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Horsch in the 80th minute of the match. When Sierk Clauren came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Moringen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sierk Clauren couldn't finish the play. Mesut Hirtzel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dieter Schirrmacher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, FC Simon 1978's goal looked a bit too open when Sierk Clauren came free, but Mesut Hirtzel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91 played minutes FC Simon 1978 got a freekick which was hit by Karsten Gelb. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Moringen FC fully deserved thier win.
