Dag Spörer's late challenge caught a Moringen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dag Spörer helped the player get up and apologised. Rouven Obele showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quincy Holzapfel in the 12th minute of the match. Jochen Teufel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Siegfried Nierlich, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 15 minutes, Gert Röhmer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moringen FC and the Bayern Munich players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 15 played minutes Moringen FC got a freekick which was hit by Gert Röhmer. Siegfried Nierlich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jochen Teufel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute Theo Horsch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rouven Obele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th match minute, Moringen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dieter Schirrmacher to maneuver through the defense. After 43 minutes of play Moringen FC's Dieter Schirrmacher was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Moringen FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Dieter Schirrmacher hit a great ball. When Oliver Petek came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Moringen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliver Petek couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Siegfried Nierlich to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Bayern Munich's zone, Theo Horsch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rouven Obele came out of the goal and Theo Horsch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Stanislaus Maringer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Friedel Oppermann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jochen Teufel having to interfere.
