The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Holger Struck notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of FC Simon 1978's Mesut Hirtzel. Mesut Hirtzel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benedikt Hübner got free with Wolfgang Nacke in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wolfgang Nacke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gunter Schröder, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The supporters of FC Simon 1978 booed when Teichlosen FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rico Götze didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gunter Schröder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leopold Zenner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mesut Hirtzel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Holger Struck went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. When Leopold Zenner came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Teichlosen FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leopold Zenner couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gunter Schröder to strike the kick off in the second half. Gunter Schröder's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wolfgang Nacke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Leopold Zenner's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mesut Hirtzel was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Michael Beck kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. FC Simon 1978's Mesut Hirtzel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save FC Simon 1978 from getting a goal against them.
