When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Peter-Michael Berresch put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Lou Jeschke. Edgar Thal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lasse Barthe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lou Jeschke having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lasse Barthe to make the kick off. Sandford's Blaise Noll was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lou Jeschke in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 55 minutes into the match, FC Bayern München's Jürg Reuter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgar Thal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Atze Laurischk fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sandford's protests and gave Atze Laurischk a yellow card for diving instead. In the 62nd minute, Atze Laurischk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Steffen Goll from long distance, 62 minutes into the match, got Edgar Thal's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Lou Jeschke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lasse Barthe in the 92nd minute of play. Jürg Reuter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FC Bayern München players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
