Karel Sigrist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lennart Tolkmitt having to interfere. Lennart Tolkmitt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karel Sigrist in the 7th minute of play. When Karel Sigrist came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the FC Yürrübe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karel Sigrist couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in FC Yürrübe's zone, Hansi Eisele stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jürgen Melchert came out of the goal and Hansi Eisele tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Yürrübe's Jürgen Melchert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hansi Eisele in the 13th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Tyron Lux got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 20 minutes, Hansi Eisele managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Freiburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hansi Eisele was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Finn Stockburger during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SC Freiburg getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Finn Stockburger hit a great ball. Tyron Lux fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lennart Tolkmitt having to interfere. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Yürrübe's goalkeeper Jürgen Melchert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 33 minutes into the game, when Wesley Bodden put in a rough tackle. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Yürrübe! When the match had been going on for 35 minutes, SC Freiburg's Theodor Rompel got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jürgen Melchert. A collision led to FC Yürrübe getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Claudius Fromme hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tyron Lux was the one to do the kick off. A hard shot 61 in the game by Tyron Lux from a close distance when the talented Lennart Tolkmitt managed to make a qualified save. SC Freiburg's players were relieved. Hansi Eisele took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jürgen Melchert. Jürgen Melchert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg's Julius Maller got a free kick in the 74th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tyron Lux got free with Lennart Tolkmitt in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jürgen Melchert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jens-Uwe Beimes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC Yürrübe getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Dolf Stober hit a great ball. In the 83rd minute Hansi Eisele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jürgen Melchert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute of the match, Tyron Lux got a very nice opportunity to score, but Lennart Tolkmitt was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jürgen Melchert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hansi Eisele, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Tyron Lux managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Yürrübe's supporters rose to their feet, but Tyron Lux was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lennart Tolkmitt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. SC Freiburg's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
