After a rather tough play, St.Pauli's Ben Grabert got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Henk Zischer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Adam Michallek made a huge save. A collision led to Dalborn getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Eilert Wenzlaff hit a great ball. Dalborn's Adam Michallek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gunther Strobel in the 6th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gunther Strobel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adam Michallek was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. St.Pauli's Knud Ockmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hischam Jost in the 20th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Henk Zischer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. St.Pauli's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henk Zischer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 30thth minute of the game Gunther Strobel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dalborn's Adam Michallek was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Adam Michallek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gunther Strobel in the 32nd minute of play. Gunther Strobel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adam Michallek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henk Zischer in the 37th minute. Adam Michallek made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Henk Zischer sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Gunther Strobel managed to get in a good position for a shot. St.Pauli's supporters rose to their feet, but Gunther Strobel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adam Michallek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Gunther Strobel came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the St.Pauli fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gunther Strobel couldn't finish the play. In the 47th minute, St.Pauli's Gunther Strobel dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Gunther Strobel made the kick off in the second half. Henk Zischer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Adam Michallek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When St.Pauli's Gunther Strobel in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dalborn's goalie prevented a goal. Adam Michallek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Uwe Klomfaß fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored St.Pauli's protests and gave Uwe Klomfaß a yellow card for diving instead. After 73 played minutes St.Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Uwe Klomfaß. Adam Michallek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gunther Strobel in the 75th minute of the match. Henk Zischer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute Gunther Strobel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adam Michallek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adam Michallek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henk Zischer in the 86th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunther Strobel in the 88th minute of play forced Dalborn's goalkeeper Adam Michallek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henk Zischer struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Adam Michallek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for St.Pauli.
