Bonifatius Mehrwald's late challenge caught a 1.Fc Lynar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Björn Zaha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Mario Nowack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Willi Rothensteiner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adrian Kaufmann having to make a save. In the 33rd minute Björn Zaha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Nowack saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, 1.Fc Lynar's Adrian Kaufmann got control of the ball when Dankward Amstutz tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Dankward Amstutz came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Hamburger Sportverein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dankward Amstutz couldn't finish the play. Dankward Amstutz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Adrian Kaufmann made a huge save. Dankward Amstutz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrian Kaufmann made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Dankward Amstutz sent off a good shot on target. Willi Rothensteiner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Adrian Kaufmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Willi Rothensteiner was the one to do the kick off. Adrian Kaufmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willi Rothensteiner, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willi Rothensteiner in the 53rd minute of play forced 1.Fc Lynar's goalkeeper Adrian Kaufmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Willi Rothensteiner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adrian Kaufmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Dankward Amstutz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrian Kaufmann didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Willi Rothensteiner went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 63 minutes, Willi Rothensteiner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hamburger Sportverein's supporters crossed their fingers, but Willi Rothensteiner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adrian Kaufmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Willi Rothensteiner's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Sierk Schweers might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adrian Kaufmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sierk Schweers ran back to his position shaking his head. Adrian Kaufmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dankward Amstutz's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. In the 76th minute, Leopold Moser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Norbert Abraham, 77 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Adrian Kaufmann didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dankward Amstutz went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Björn Zaha took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mario Nowack. Mario Nowack dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Willi Rothensteiner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Hamburger Sportverein had played much better football throughout.
