Lutz Kreber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heiko Robinsohn having to interfere. Dominik Selinger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Leysiefen's René Wiechmann got a free kick in the 7th minute. Hans Höhn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Werner Brackheimer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute Dierk Prockl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Werner Brackheimer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Leysiefen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Kuypers to maneuver through the defense. Heiko Robinsohn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lutz Kreber in the 17th minute of the match. In the 17th minute, Jurek Drichel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lutz Kreber's late challenge caught a Leysiefen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lutz Kreber helped the player get up and apologised. After 26 played minutes Junkersholz FC got a freekick which was hit by Lutz Kreber. Werner Brackheimer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dierk Prockl, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 33rd minute, Junkersholz FC's Arnd Pohl seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Arnd Pohl the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Junkersholz FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Arnd Pohl had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a rather tough play, Junkersholz FC's Nicolai Müller got a free kick in the 37th minute. Werner Brackheimer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dierk Prockl, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Werner Brackheimer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hans Höhn's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. 43 minutes into the match, Hans Höhn had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Werner Brackheimer. Junkersholz FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hans Höhn was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Junkersholz FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Leysiefen were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lutz Kreber to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Dominik Selinger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Junkersholz FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dominik Selinger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heiko Robinsohn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Harry Nemitz got free with Werner Brackheimer in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dierk Prockl received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Werner Brackheimer came out and tried to block the shot, but Dierk Prockl slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 69th minute. Werner Brackheimer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dierk Prockl, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Hans Höhn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leysiefen's supporters rose to their feet, but Hans Höhn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 81st minute, Leysiefen's Hans Höhn ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Werner Brackheimer. Werner Brackheimer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. In the 87th minute, Heiko Mühlichen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Werner Brackheimer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Höhn in the 88th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Hans Höhn took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Werner Brackheimer to make any attempt to save it. Heiko Robinsohn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lutz Kreber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Leysiefen supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Leysiefen would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
