If Hardi Wilnauer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Süderhof's Simon Achterbach got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Hannover City's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Achterbach came free, but Utz Sing reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The Süderhof fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hansjürgen Nikoleit should have stopped the shot. The Hannover City supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Süderhof's performance. The match ended with a win for Süderhof.
