Melbeck's supporters rose to their feet, but Philipp Meyers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frans Pethe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Melbeck getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Mike Heiske hit a great ball. After 31 played minutes, Fortuna's Paul Rippert shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gus Skrotzki came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fortuna reached it. Stefan Liebing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stefan Liebing to strike the kick off in the second half. Frans Pethe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philipp Meyers, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The supporters of Melbeck booed when Fortuna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sascha Püschl didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frans Pethe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Philipp Meyers's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. A collision led to Fortuna getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Gerard Hallerbach hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the game, Elmar Rauh cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Frans Pethe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Oskar Appenzeller put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Gus Skrotzki. 88 minutes into the game, Lukas Lorent was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Elmar Rauh charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elmar Rauh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 98 played minutes Melbeck got a freekick which was hit by Elmar Rauh. Fortuna's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
