If Bertram Michael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benni Ullmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benni Ullmann blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stephan Kienzle having to make a save. Stephan Kienzle made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Henning Amann sent off a good shot on target. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bertram Michael made a kick off. With a little luck, FC Herne 08's Stefan Ortlieb got control of the ball when Frank Stange tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute, Frank Stange got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to FC Herne 08 getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Gerhart Hunger hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Herne 08's zone, Bertram Michael stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stefan Ortlieb came out of the goal and Bertram Michael tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62ndth minute of the game Benni Ullmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Lippe-Hamm's Stephan Kienzle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frank Stange was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 67th minute. SC Lippe-Hamm's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Stefan Ortlieb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertram Michael, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute, Reinhold Bliska hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute of the match, Bertram Michael tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Stefan Ortlieb saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bertram Michael fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Ortlieb having to interfere. FC Herne 08's Stefan Ortlieb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertram Michael in the 86th minute of play. Stephan Kienzle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leven Eisold went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Lippe-Hamm players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Herne 08.
