The referee ignored FC Lahnstein's protests and gave Hugo Johann a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Lahnstein getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Hugo Johann hit a great ball. If Henning Amann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Paul Beckmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Herwig Ehrreich kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Torsten Franz hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Stefan Ortlieb was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Bo Dubinski. Stefan Ortlieb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfried Steininger, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. When Benni Ullmann came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the FC Herne 08 fans jumped to their feet. Herwig Ehrreich might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stefan Ortlieb. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehmet Becker was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Henning Amann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilfried Steininger was extremely unlucky when he, in the 38th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Wilfried Steininger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Herwig Ehrreich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Ortlieb having to interfere. Stefan Ortlieb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfried Steininger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stefan Ortlieb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herwig Ehrreich, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 76th match minute, FC Herne 08 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leven Eisold to maneuver through the defense. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 92nd minute of the match FC Lahnstein got a corner. FC Herne 08's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bo Dubinski ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 96 minutes, Bo Krämer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Lahnstein and the FC Herne 08 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC Herne 08 booed when FC Lahnstein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bo Krämer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gennaro Kölle shot a long shot in the 97th minute and a light blocked Mehmet Becker hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Herne 08 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
