After 40 minutes, Ubbo Herbers made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Herne 08's Stefan Ortlieb tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Ubbo Herbers managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Einheit Burg's supporters rose to their feet, but Ubbo Herbers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niko Schieber in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stefan Ortlieb saved FC Herne 08 from getting behind. In the 69thth minute of the game Benni Ullmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Einheit Burg's Philipp Landgraf was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Emil Gerhardt kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After some careless play in the FC Herne 08 defense, Niko Schieber kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stefan Ortlieb. The FC Herne 08 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stefan Ortlieb should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ubbo Herbers in the 77th minute of play forced FC Herne 08's goalkeeper Stefan Ortlieb to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Reinhold Bliska fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Herne 08's protests and gave Reinhold Bliska a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Herne 08's zone, Ubbo Herbers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stefan Ortlieb came out of the goal and Ubbo Herbers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. During the 89th minute of the match Leven Eisold completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Leven Eisold a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to FC Herne 08 getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Leven Eisold hit a great ball. If Ubbo Herbers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Einheit Burg's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
