Adrian Bermel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Ortlieb having to interfere. Stefan Ortlieb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernhard Köddermann in the 5th minute of play. Tim Jahns hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Bermel in the 6th minute of play forced FC Herne 08's goalkeeper Stefan Ortlieb to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 7 minutes, Henning Amann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Herne 08 and the FC Midori players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute, Tim Jahns hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute, Adrian Bermel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 13th minute, Sascha Berz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Bernhard Köddermann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, FC Herne 08's Henning Amann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ilja Kalitta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nico Abel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Stefan Ortlieb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, FC Midori's goal looked a bit too open when Benni Ullmann came free, but Ilja Kalitta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ilja Kalitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benni Ullmann in the 30th minute of play. Ilja Kalitta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benni Ullmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Sascha Berz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stefan Ortlieb having to make a save. With a little luck, FC Midori's Ilja Kalitta got control of the ball when Henning Amann tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of FC Midori:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Herne 08:s goal. When the match had been going on for 46 minutes, FC Herne 08's Gennaro Kölle got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ilja Kalitta. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sascha Berz to make the kick off. If Sascha Berz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sascha Berz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Stefan Ortlieb when he managed to save the team from getting behind. FC Midori's Nico Abel got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When FC Herne 08's Benni Ullmann in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Midori's goalie prevented a goal. Sascha Berz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stefan Ortlieb read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adrian Bermel got free with Stefan Ortlieb in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sascha Berz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Ortlieb having to interfere. Nico Abel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leven Eisold kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sascha Berz in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stefan Ortlieb prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sascha Berz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Stefan Ortlieb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sascha Berz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of FC Midori booed when FC Herne 08 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinhold Bliska didn't get a good kick on the ball. The FC Herne 08 support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
