The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lars Bix made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonas Buchen in the 3rd minute. Lars Bix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gretel Weigant, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arko Gröbner's late challenge caught a Qualburg FSV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arko Gröbner helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Qualburg FSV booed when Wimberg FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arko Gröbner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Max Schreiber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Schwarz having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tim Strauss in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robert Schwarz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Gretel Weigant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raphael Wengenroth during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Raphael Wengenroth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 55th minute Jonas Buchen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars Bix saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Gretel Weigant came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Wimberg FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gretel Weigant couldn't finish the play. Lars Bix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gretel Weigant in the 61st minute of play. Jonas Buchen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gretel Weigant in the 70th minute of play forced Qualburg FSV's goalkeeper Lars Bix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 71st minute, Jonas Buchen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gretel Weigant received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Lars Bix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lars Bix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gretel Weigant in the 82nd minute of play. Jonas Buchen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Qualburg FSV's zone, Jonas Buchen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars Bix came out of the goal and Jonas Buchen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 97 minutes into the match, Qualburg FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Gretel Weigant came free, but Lars Bix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Qualburg FSV's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
