Hugo Wetzel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 6th minute, Michael Rösch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgar Assmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Michael Rösch charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michael Rösch the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Laurence Böhland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justin Fremd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Justin Fremd fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Union Dresden's protests and gave Justin Fremd a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes SC Union Dresden got a freekick which was hit by Justin Fremd. In the 14th minute Yannik Saager shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar Assmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Justin Fremd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Union Dresden's Justin Fremd was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 20th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Otmar Kastner kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Edgar Assmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yannik Saager in the 28th minute of the match. SC Union Dresden's Neo Prewo got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, SC Union Dresden's goal looked a bit too open when Yannik Saager came free, but Edgar Assmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Assmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kornelius König, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Michael Rösch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgar Assmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After the first half Ostdeutschland were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kornelius König stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Alexander Pechstein fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ostdeutschland's protests and gave Alexander Pechstein a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ostdeutschland getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Alexander Pechstein hit a great ball. 59 minutes into the match, Justin Fremd notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Ostdeutschland's Laurence Böhland. Laurence Böhland was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 68th minute Justin Fremd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Böhland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SC Union Dresden's Edgar Assmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save SC Union Dresden from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Udo Kurth got free with Edgar Assmann in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. SC Union Dresden's Edgar Assmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kornelius König in the 83rd minute of play. When Kim Beier fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Union Dresden's protests and gave Kim Beier a yellow card for diving instead. Kim Beier hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Edgar Assmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Rösch in the 88th minute. In the 90thth minute of the game Justin Fremd who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ostdeutschland's Laurence Böhland was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Justin Fremd blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Laurence Böhland having to make a save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Ostdeutschland walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
