Karl Martin Bachmann started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute, Espen Dabrock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute of the match, Takeshi Lank got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fredy Bachmann was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Karl Martin Bachmann hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 11 minutes into the game, Karl Martin Bachmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Greifenstein's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VfB Stuttgart the free kick. The supporters of VfB Stuttgart booed when Greifenstein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl Martin Bachmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edgar Brandt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Albrecht Meisel came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Greifenstein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albrecht Meisel couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute, Karl Martin Bachmann made a precise shot to the right of Edmund Kugler. VfB Stuttgart's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Albrecht Meisel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Karl Martin Bachmann might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edmund Kugler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl Martin Bachmann ran back to his position shaking his head. Karl Martin Bachmann struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Edmund Kugler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Greifenstein. 34 minutes into the match, VfB Stuttgart's goal looked a bit too open when Albrecht Meisel came free, but Edmund Kugler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Theodor Dettmar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. VfB Stuttgart's Takeshi Lank got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Takeshi Lank could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Fredy Bachmann made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Takeshi Lank in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fredy Bachmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edgar Brandt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Takeshi Lank stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fredy Bachmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Takeshi Lank in the 51st minute of the match. Edmund Kugler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl Martin Bachmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 53rd minute, Edgar Brandt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fredy Bachmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Takeshi Lank, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Takeshi Lank struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Fredy Bachmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VfB Stuttgart. Theodor Dettmar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fredy Bachmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Takeshi Lank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fredy Bachmann having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, VfB Stuttgart's Gregor Lingenfelder sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fredy Bachmann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Greifenstein getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Espen Dabrock hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute, Theodor Dettmar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fredy Bachmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Takeshi Lank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. VfB Stuttgart had played much better football throughout.
