The audience thought a goal was coming when Fortunato Niggemann got free with Hansjörg Todzi in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dimitar Plein took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gabor Blohberger. Gabor Blohberger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 41st minute, Fortunato Niggemann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hansjörg Todzi made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Fortunato Niggemann sent off a good shot on target. 45 minutes into the match, Arminia Bielefeld's goal looked a bit too open when Eduard Schlumberger came free, but Gabor Blohberger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
