Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Julius Drube took the kick off in the first half of the match. Gabor Blohberger came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Schalke 04's Julius Drube. But to his dismay, Julius Drube quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Arne Danielzick notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Arminia Bielefeld's Gabor Blohberger. Gabor Blohberger was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in FC Schalke 04's zone, Jürgen Gömleksiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roland Husser came out of the goal and Jürgen Gömleksiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arminia Bielefeld's Gabor Blohberger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julius Drube in the 18th minute of play. 21 minutes into the game, Arne Danielzick cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Gabor Blohberger was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 26 minutes into the game, FC Schalke 04's Samir Preußler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gabor Blohberger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. After 28 played minutes Arminia Bielefeld got a freekick which was hit by Fortunato Niggemann. Gabor Blohberger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theodor Storm in the 30th minute of play. Gabor Blohberger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samir Preußler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gabor Blohberger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Danielzick in the 34th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Arminia Bielefeld's goal looked a bit too open when Julius Drube came free, but Gabor Blohberger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gabor Blohberger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theodor Storm in the 36th minute of play. Arminia Bielefeld's Gabor Blohberger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arne Danielzick in the 42nd minute of play. If Arne Danielzick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half FC Schalke 04 were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fortunato Niggemann to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, FC Schalke 04's Julius Drube dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. 56 minutes into the match, Arminia Bielefeld's goalkeeper Gabor Blohberger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arne Danielzick. Julius Drube struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Gabor Blohberger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Schalke 04. In the 66th minute Julius Drube shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabor Blohberger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 68 minutes into the game, Theodor Storm recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gabor Blohberger. Theodor Storm showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. In the 71st minute, FC Schalke 04's Arne Danielzick dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-8. After 74 played minutes FC Schalke 04 got a freekick which was hit by Samir Preußler. In the 75th match minute, FC Schalke 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Knut Kopitz to maneuver through the defense. 76 minutes into the game, one of FC Schalke 04:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Arminia Bielefeld's Gabor Blohberger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Arminia Bielefeld from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute of the match, Julius Drube tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gabor Blohberger saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gabor Blohberger made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Samir Preußler sent off a good shot on target. Jürgen Gömleksiz kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. 94 minutes into the match, Arminia Bielefeld's goalkeeper Gabor Blohberger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arne Danielzick. In the 97th minute, Arne Danielzick reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gabor Blohberger. The goal made the score 1-9. The Arminia Bielefeld fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Schalke 04 were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
