Conny Vogel kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Yannik Köppen during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Volker Böhland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nino Schätzle in the 6th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Conny Vogel kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lando Mühleck. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Gernot Laudi struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Volker Böhland didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ERZURUMSPOR. Gernot Laudi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nino Schätzle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lester Felich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. August Kaul hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Yannik Köppen was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 26 minutes into the game, one of Stuttgart:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave ERZURUMSPOR a penalty, 29 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Béla Onaran, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Stuttgart's Volker Böhland. 1-1. Lester Felichs short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Lando Mühleck to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Béla Onaran's late challenge caught a Stuttgart's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Béla Onaran helped the player get up and apologised. After 41 played minutes ERZURUMSPOR got a freekick which was hit by Béla Onaran. Lando Mühleck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lester Felich in the 47th minute.

When ERZURUMSPOR's Gernot Laudi in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stuttgart's goalie prevented a goal. Lester Felich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Nino Schätzle made a precise shot to the right of Volker Böhland. Stuttgart's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. When Zlatko Rieth fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stuttgart's protests and gave Zlatko Rieth a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Stuttgart booed when ERZURUMSPOR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. August Kaul didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Stuttgart getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Adé Remse hit a great ball. In the 69th minute, Béla Onaran sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Stuttgart's Volker Böhland didn't even have to move. In the 72nd minute Gernot Laudi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volker Böhland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ERZURUMSPOR's Lando Mühleck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lester Felich in the 73rd minute of play. Lando Mühleck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lester Felich in the 77th minute of play. Lando Mühleck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lester Felich, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Martin Riedel hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match.
