Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tsuneo Obele kicked off to start the match. Felix Sawitzki's late challenge caught a Werder Bremen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Sawitzki helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sportfreunde King's Drees Bornscheuer got a free kick in the 4th minute. Laurence Sattler came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Werder Bremen's Tsuneo Obele. But to his dismay, Tsuneo Obele quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After having played for 8 minutes, Malte Thamm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Werder Bremen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Malte Thamm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Felix Sawitzki hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Felix Sawitzki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 15th minute, Tsuneo Obele got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Klement Baluszynski's late challenge caught a Sportfreunde King's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sportfreunde King's Laurence Sattler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Sportfreunde King from getting a goal against them. Laurence Sattler was a little too slow when Tsuneo Obele got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 28th minute. The score was now 3-0. Klement Baluszynski hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute Berko Schaub shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Orth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Berko Schaub came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Sportfreunde King fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Berko Schaub couldn't finish the play. If Tsuneo Obele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laurence Sattler made an important save on a dangerous shot by Malte Thamm in the 41st minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lothar Hach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Lothar Hach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tsuneo Obele in the 56th minute of play forced Sportfreunde King's goalkeeper Laurence Sattler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurence Sattler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Malte Thamm in the 59th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lothar Hach in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrick Orth saved Werder Bremen from getting behind. When Felix Sawitzki came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Sportfreunde King fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Sawitzki couldn't finish the play. If Malte Thamm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malte Thamm in the 74th minute of play forced Sportfreunde King's goalkeeper Laurence Sattler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Drees Bornscheuer charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Drees Bornscheuer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Werder Bremen booed when Sportfreunde King was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Drees Bornscheuer didn't get a good kick on the ball. 80 minutes into the game, Werder Bremen's Tsuneo Obele nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laurence Sattler made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Lothar Hach might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patrick Orth. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lothar Hach ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 91st match minute, Werder Bremen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Friedrich Riess to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Berko Schaub managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportfreunde King's supporters rose to their feet, but Berko Schaub was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrick Orth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malte Thamm in the 94th minute of play forced Sportfreunde King's goalkeeper Laurence Sattler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Malte Thamm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Werder Bremen's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
