The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Robert Nickel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trahweiler's supporters rose to their feet, but Robert Nickel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dariusz Weißgerber breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Trahweiler's Pinkas Klingemann got a free kick in the 9th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michael Fresow got free with Lars Lausen in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Werner Kraus in the 14th minute of play forced Trahweiler's goalkeeper Lars Lausen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Michael Fresow came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Pulheim FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michael Fresow couldn't finish the play. The goalkeeper, Lars Lausen, was totally fooled by Pulheim FC's Valerius Wittenbeck, who 29 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some careless play in the Pulheim FC defense, Ferit Pollmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dariusz Weißgerber. The Pulheim FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dariusz Weißgerber should have stopped the shot. Ferit Pollmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dariusz Weißgerber having to interfere. Trahweiler's Lars Lausen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Trahweiler from getting a goal against them. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Werner Kraus to make the kick off. Lars Lausen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Fresow in the 51st minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Ferit Pollmann took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Dariusz Weißgerber to make any attempt to save it. Michael Fresow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lars Lausen having to interfere. When Shawn Dickhoff came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Trahweiler fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shawn Dickhoff couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Pulheim FC's Mustafa Billmann got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 80th match minute, Trahweiler was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Abelmann to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Trahweiler's zone, Michael Fresow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars Lausen came out of the goal and Michael Fresow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 83 minutes, Ferit Pollmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trahweiler's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ferit Pollmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Werner Kraus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Lars Lausen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Werner Kraus took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lars Lausen. Lars Lausen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Werner Kraus struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Lars Lausen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pulheim FC. 94 minutes into the match, Pulheim FC's Björn Bellmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lars Lausen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
