Detlef Ruben kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Leonhard Raus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thomas Stanke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephan Engels having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fredy Türkmen during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Energie Cottbus getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Fredy Türkmen hit a great ball. Marcello Liski struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Stephan Engels didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Heuerßen FSV. 40 minutes in the game, Thomas Stanke fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Stephan Engels having to interfere. Stephan Engels made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonhard Raus in the 41st minute. When Leonhard Raus came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Heuerßen FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonhard Raus couldn't finish the play. In the 45thth minute of the game Thomas Stanke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Energie Cottbus's Stephan Engels was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Martin Döbbe made the kick off in the second half. When Heimko Klaassen fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
