Theodor Turk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcus Zabel in the 4th minute. Finn Schulitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Donald Gaisenkersting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kurt Zillen's late challenge caught a FC Wangen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kurt Zillen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Kurt Zillen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jack Locherer came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the SC Herefurt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jack Locherer couldn't finish the play. Jack Locherer might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donald Gaisenkersting. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jack Locherer ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 22nd minute, Finn Schulitz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donald Gaisenkersting was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Theodor Turk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mike Ballstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcus Zabel struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Theodor Turk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Wangen. 28 minutes into the game, Joerg-Uwe Kossendey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Herefurt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Wangen the free kick. In the 30th minute, Jack Locherer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donald Gaisenkersting was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Finn Schulitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Herefurt's supporters rose to their feet, but Finn Schulitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donald Gaisenkersting breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcus Zabel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Theodor Turk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Mike Ballstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The FC Wangen players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Herefurt were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jack Locherer to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Theodor Turk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jack Locherer kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Jack Locherer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donald Gaisenkersting read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. The supporters of FC Wangen booed when SC Herefurt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joerg-Uwe Kossendey didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, FC Wangen's Arko Fiegler tried to score from far away in the 66th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. FC Wangen's Marcus Zabel got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donald Gaisenkersting took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jack Locherer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Ballstein in the 77th minute of play forced SC Herefurt's goalkeeper Theodor Turk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Herefurt's Theodor Turk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Zabel in the 78th minute of play. Theodor Turk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mike Ballstein, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. If Mike Ballstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Wangen's Donald Gaisenkersting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Locherer in the 90th minute of play. The SC Herefurt players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
