Marcus Zabel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dariusz Weißgerber having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Ballstein in the 19th minute of play forced Pulheim FC's goalkeeper Dariusz Weißgerber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Wangen's Marcus Zabel got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to FC Wangen getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Armand Oberlercher hit a great ball. Dariusz Weißgerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mike Ballstein in the 32nd minute of play. Donald Gaisenkersting took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Werner Kraus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donald Gaisenkersting made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Fresow in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute Werner Kraus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Gaisenkersting saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Pulheim FC booed when FC Wangen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armand Oberlercher didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Wangen's Donald Gaisenkersting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Werner Kraus in the 44th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Werner Kraus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pulheim FC's Werner Kraus got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donald Gaisenkersting made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Fresow in the 69th minute of play. If Werner Kraus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, FC Wangen's Dariusz Weißgerber threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mike Ballstein, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 78th match minute, FC Wangen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jakob Backeshoff to maneuver through the defense. When Pulheim FC's Michael Fresow in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After some fancy dribbling in the 102nd minute, Werner Kraus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pulheim FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Werner Kraus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donald Gaisenkersting breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pulheim FC fully deserved thier win.
