Spectators: 6719 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Martin Döbbe took the kick off in the first half of the match. Martin Döbbe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bastian Kaspar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Nikolaus Waddey notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of FC Energie Cottbus's Stephan Engels. Stephan Engels was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Stephan Engels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikolaus Waddey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Herdern FC's Bastian Kaspar got control of the ball when Reinhart Buschlinger tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 16th match minute, Herdern FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Cyzewski to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, FC Energie Cottbus's Fredy Türkmen broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Martin Döbbe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Nikolaus Waddey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute of the match, Reinhart Buschlinger got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bastian Kaspar was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Herdern FC's Alex Batzer got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nikolaus Waddey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Stephan Engels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Alex Batzer made a precise shot to the right of Stephan Engels. FC Energie Cottbus's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nikolaus Waddey in the 45th minute of play forced FC Energie Cottbus's goalkeeper Stephan Engels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stephan Engels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Batzer, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. If Nikolaus Waddey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alex Batzer was the one to do the kick off. Nikolaus Waddey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alex Batzer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th match minute, FC Energie Cottbus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fredy Türkmen to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, FC Energie Cottbus's goalkeeper Stephan Engels had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nikolaus Waddey. Niclas Hofheinz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stephan Engels read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Stephan Engels successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 74th minute, Herdern FC's Alex Batzer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Stephan Engels. Stephan Engels yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in FC Energie Cottbus's zone, Nikolaus Waddey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephan Engels came out of the goal and Nikolaus Waddey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th match minute, Herdern FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andreas Mütsch to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Alex Batzer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Herdern FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Batzer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephan Engels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
