It was a penalty for FC Energie Cottbus! After a defensive mix-up in FC Energie Cottbus's zone, Stanislaw Pistauer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephan Engels came out of the goal and Stanislaw Pistauer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ekin Sauter fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sondershausen FSV's protests and gave Ekin Sauter a yellow card for diving instead. Ekin Sauter hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Stephan Engels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Malte Gnant in the 89th minute of play. With a little luck, Sondershausen FSV's Stefan Lelke got control of the ball when Reinhart Buschlinger tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stanislaw Pistauer might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stephan Engels. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stanislaw Pistauer ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Didier Starke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sondershausen FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Didier Starke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephan Engels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 99 minutes, Viktor Drüggelte mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Energie Cottbus and the Sondershausen FSV players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee ended the match the Sondershausen FSV players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
