Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mike Ballstein kicked off to start the match. Didier Starke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Gaisenkersting having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 3 played minutes FC Wangen got a freekick which was hit by Klaus-Dieter Werkmeister. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mike Ballstein in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stefan Lelke prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Elias Burkert kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. FC Wangen's Donald Gaisenkersting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didier Starke in the 14th minute of play. Didier Starke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Wilfried Wolf fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sondershausen FSV's protests and gave Wilfried Wolf a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Wangen booed when Sondershausen FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilfried Wolf didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stefan Lelke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcus Zabel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Stanislaw Pistauer could shoot a difficult shot in the 26th minute, which Donald Gaisenkersting however easily saved by the left post. If Stanislaw Pistauer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Wangen's zone, Didier Starke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donald Gaisenkersting came out of the goal and Didier Starke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Stanislaw Pistauer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute, Ekin Sauter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donald Gaisenkersting was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Didier Starke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Didier Starke was the one to do the kick off. Donald Gaisenkersting made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanislaw Pistauer in the 54th minute of play. Stefan Lelke acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 59th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ingmar Ellermann. After 68 minutes, Stanislaw Pistauer made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. FC Wangen's Donald Gaisenkersting tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcus Zabel took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stefan Lelke. Stefan Lelke dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Didier Starke struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Donald Gaisenkersting didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sondershausen FSV. 80 minutes into the game, Stanislaw Pistauer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Donald Gaisenkersting was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 84 minutes, Stanislaw Pistauer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sondershausen FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stanislaw Pistauer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanislaw Pistauer in the 89th minute of play forced FC Wangen's goalkeeper Donald Gaisenkersting to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Stanislaw Pistauer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute Didier Starke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Gaisenkersting saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Sondershausen FSV players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
