The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Christian Kehr managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wehnen FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Kehr was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eckehard Dörnbrack breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 10 minutes into the match, Magdeburg Sport Verein's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Ochs came free, but Eckehard Dörnbrack reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Wehnen FSV booed when Magdeburg Sport Verein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Sigrist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uwe-Jens Mager came out and tried to block the shot, but Henning Goldmann slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 27th minute. Leo Ochs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Uwe-Jens Mager made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henning Goldmann in the 39th minute of play. Eckehard Dörnbrack made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Ochs in the 40th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ray Antwerpes during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wehnen FSV's Ray Antwerpes got a free kick in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leo Ochs to make the kick off. Uwe-Jens Mager made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henning Goldmann in the 54th minute of play. Uwe-Jens Mager showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henning Goldmann in the 55th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Wehnen FSV's zone, David Schneck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uwe-Jens Mager came out of the goal and David Schneck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 65 minutes of play, Magdeburg Sport Verein's David Schneck made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uwe-Jens Mager was left in no man's land by his defense there! David Schneck might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Uwe-Jens Mager. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Schneck ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th minute, Henning Goldmann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Uwe-Jens Mager was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Schneck in the 80th minute of play forced Wehnen FSV's goalkeeper Uwe-Jens Mager to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christian Kehr got free with Eckehard Dörnbrack in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. David Schneck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uwe-Jens Mager having to interfere. Magdeburg Sport Verein's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
