The Gostingen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olav Gross should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Colonia Agrippina's Alec Hörbelt got a free kick in the 8th minute. If Gunter Weiss had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anton Linke got free with Hendrik Stark in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Colonia Agrippina's Rupert Renger, in the 17th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Colonia Agrippina. Anton Linke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hendrik Stark having to interfere. In the 23rdth minute of the game Rupert Renger who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gostingen's Olav Gross was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Irvin Wittmann kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 30th match minute, Colonia Agrippina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alec Hörbelt to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute of the match Johannes Dettinger sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hendrik Stark skillfully saved the ball. Olav Gross stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lauritz Marohn's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. A collision led to Gostingen getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Irvin Wittmann hit a great ball. Anton Linke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Hendrik Stark tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gostingen's Olav Gross played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rupert Renger in the 44th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gunter Weiss to make the kick off. When Colonia Agrippina's Rupert Renger in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of Colonia Agrippina booed when Gostingen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marko Schwehr didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute Rupert Renger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olav Gross saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruno Mögle in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hendrik Stark saved Colonia Agrippina from getting behind. Anton Linke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Hendrik Stark tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rupert Renger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olav Gross made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lauritz Marohn in the 97th minute.
