Uli Burmeister made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jerry Bache in the 10th minute. In the 13thth minute of the game David Guttenberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ajax Amsterdam's Alexander Plank was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Bruno Grundmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harald Warnke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uli Burmeister having to interfere. Alexander Plank stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bruno Grundmann's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. David Guttenberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Alexander Plank tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David Guttenberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, Bert Naab hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 32 played minutes, G A M E O V E R's André Salisch shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alexander Plank came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Jerry Bache could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Uli Burmeister made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, G A M E O V E R's goal looked a bit too open when Harald Warnke came free, but Uli Burmeister reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Harald Warnke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Harald Warnke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ajax Amsterdam's supporters rose to their feet, but Harald Warnke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Uli Burmeister breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Harald Warnke made a kick off. If Harald Warnke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harald Warnke in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Uli Burmeister saved G A M E O V E R from getting behind. After 61 minutes, Klaus Seelenbinder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ajax Amsterdam and the G A M E O V E R players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Klaus Seelenbinder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. G A M E O V E R's Uli Burmeister played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerry Bache in the 64th minute of play. 64 minutes into the game, Kai-Uwe Vegelahn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. G A M E O V E R's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ajax Amsterdam the free kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kai-Uwe Vegelahn couldn't finish the play. Alexander Plank showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kai-Uwe Vegelahn in the 86th minute of the match. Bernd Roßberger blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alexander Plank having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Bache in the 94th minute of play forced G A M E O V E R's goalkeeper Uli Burmeister to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
