With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ernst Weiß in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Damir Haunstein saved Caupolicán from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Caupolicán's zone, Pierre Bode stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damir Haunstein came out of the goal and Pierre Bode tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helge Schwarze in the 16th minute of play forced fenerbahce's goalkeeper Flavio Greth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flavio Greth didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Franz-Peter Gilde went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. fenerbahce's Flavio Greth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franz-Peter Gilde in the 22nd minute of play. Helge Schwarze blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Flavio Greth having to make a save. Pierre Bode could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Damir Haunstein made a huge save. Ernst Weiß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Damir Haunstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Helge Schwarze in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Greth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Damir Haunstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernst Weiß in the 32nd minute of the match. Pierre Bode didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-1 via right post in the game's 33rd minute. fenerbahce's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Franz-Peter Gilde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Greth having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Ernst Weiß recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Damir Haunstein. Ernst Weiß showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Franz-Peter Gilde was the one to do the kick off. Timo Hülsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Damir Haunstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ernst Weiß struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Damir Haunstein didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for fenerbahce. Pierre Bode fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damir Haunstein having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Franz-Peter Gilde put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Flavio Greth. In the 67th match minute, Caupolicán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Brandl to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pierre Bode in the 68th minute of play forced Caupolicán's goalkeeper Damir Haunstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carl Brandl charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carl Brandl the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Caupolicán getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Carl Brandl hit a great ball. In the 79th minute Pierre Bode shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damir Haunstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rd minute Franz-Peter Gilde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Greth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, fenerbahce's goalkeeper Flavio Greth had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carl Brandl. Flavio Greth made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Helge Schwarze sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, fenerbahce's Flavio Greth got control of the ball when Helge Schwarze tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute Pierre Bode shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damir Haunstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Greth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franz-Peter Gilde in the 95th minute of play. Helge Schwarze received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Flavio Greth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
