When Hüttenheim FSV's Flemming Fochler in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Pekko Weidle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flemming Fochler in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to Rönnbaum getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Holger Helbig hit a great ball. Kersten Piter made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Chris Wald sent off a good shot on target. Kersten Piter was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Curt Bamsen. After having played for 24 minutes, Flemming Fochler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hüttenheim FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flemming Fochler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Piet Dreher hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. If Rainer Staiger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rainer Staiger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flemming Fochler in the 35th minute of play forced Rönnbaum's goalkeeper Pekko Weidle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Gernot Schavier sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kersten Piter skillfully saved the ball. Kim Bugera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kim Bugera in the 44th minute of play forced Rönnbaum's goalkeeper Pekko Weidle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kim Bugera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

With a little luck, Rönnbaum's Pekko Weidle got control of the ball when Kim Bugera tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Kim Bugera fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hüttenheim FSV's protests and gave Kim Bugera a yellow card for diving instead. After 56 played minutes Hüttenheim FSV got a freekick which was hit by Kim Bugera. 57 minutes into the match, Hüttenheim FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Rainer Staiger came free, but Kersten Piter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute, Ingolf Walser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Flemming Fochler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pekko Weidle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 60 played minutes Rönnbaum got a freekick which was hit by Gernot Schavier. Kim Bugera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chris Wald scored 1-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kersten Piter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Rainer Staiger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Rönnbaum getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Holger Helbig hit a great ball. Kim Bugera came free with the goalkeeper in the 77th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pekko Weidle could save by the left post. Piet Dreher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Pekko Weidle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pekko Weidle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flemming Fochler, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Chris Wald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rainer Staiger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kersten Piter having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Wald in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kersten Piter saved Hüttenheim FSV from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Rönnbaum had won after a very even match.
