Cosmo Hoeft made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jannick Schockenhoff in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Gemmerich FSV booed when 1. FCB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wolfgang Herter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Volker Schwenke hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when 1. FCB's Jannick Schockenhoff in the 11th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Cosmo Hoeft was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Gemmerich FSV through an amazing save. After having played for 14 minutes, Martin Heffungs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gemmerich FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Heffungs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Casimir Krughöfer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hans Dieckmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cosmo Hoeft took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jannick Schockenhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd match minute, 1. FCB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugen Remmers to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Gemmerich FSV getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Tsuneo Allmann hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Max Josef Appel could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Cosmo Hoeft however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Gemmerich FSV's Stefan Naehring got a free kick in the 38th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jannick Schockenhoff in the 41st minute of play forced Gemmerich FSV's goalkeeper Cosmo Hoeft to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casimir Krughöfer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 1. FCB's Max Josef Appel got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martin Heffungs was the one to do the kick off. Volker Schwenke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Malte Hecht tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th minute, Hans Dieckmann had to leave the field with a concussion. When Oliver Merkel fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gemmerich FSV's protests and gave Oliver Merkel a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gemmerich FSV getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Oliver Merkel hit a great ball. When Volker Schwenke came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Gemmerich FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Volker Schwenke couldn't finish the play. Malte Hecht made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Casimir Krughöfer sent off a good shot on target. After 64 minutes, Casimir Krughöfer made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. 1. FCB's Malte Hecht tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jannick Schockenhoff charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jannick Schockenhoff the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, 1. FCB's Jannick Schockenhoff got a free kick in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Volker Schwenke got free with Malte Hecht in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Malte Hecht successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 74thth minute of the game Volker Schwenke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 1. FCB's Malte Hecht was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Volker Schwenke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Malte Hecht made a huge save. 1. FCB's Malte Hecht played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Heffungs in the 83rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, 1. FCB's Jannick Schockenhoff got a free kick in the 84th minute. When Casimir Krughöfer came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Gemmerich FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Casimir Krughöfer couldn't finish the play. Malte Hecht was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Casimir Krughöfer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 86 minute of play. FCB fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gemmerich FSV were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
