After a defensive mix-up in VFL Stade's zone, Eidur Seppmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars Marczinke came out of the goal and Eidur Seppmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 9 minutes, Traugott Gerber mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VFL Stade and the Roter Stern Leipzig players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 9 played minutes VFL Stade got a freekick which was hit by Traugott Gerber. Roter Stern Leipzig's Felix Holtmann got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Akira Küpper sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 15 played minutes Roter Stern Leipzig got a freekick which was hit by Cord Rädel. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Akira Küpper managed to get in a good position for a shot. VFL Stade's supporters rose to their feet, but Akira Küpper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christof Zeh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of VFL Stade booed when Roter Stern Leipzig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godo Dormuth didn't get a good kick on the ball. VFL Stade's Lars Marczinke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eidur Seppmann in the 26th minute of play. When the match clock showed 27 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Felix Holtmann sped through VFL Stade's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lars Marczinke. In the 29th match minute, Roter Stern Leipzig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Godo Dormuth to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Roter Stern Leipzig booed when VFL Stade was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Rausch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lars Marczinke didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 38th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eidur Seppmann in the 52nd minute of play forced VFL Stade's goalkeeper Lars Marczinke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lars Marczinke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Holtmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. VFL Stade were furious when David Rausch was red carded, 54 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in VFL Stade fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 54th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Roter Stern Leipzig a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Quentin Brantwein, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of VFL Stade's Lars Marczinke. 4-1. Lars Marczinke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eidur Seppmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Roter Stern Leipzig's Christof Zeh got control of the ball when Akira Küpper tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lars Marczinke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Holtmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute of the match Emmo Döngelli shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lars Marczinke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. VFL Stade's Lars Marczinke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Holtmann in the 89th minute of play. Lars Marczinke came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Roter Stern Leipzig's Cord Rädel. But to his dismay, Cord Rädel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eidur Seppmann in the 97th minute of play forced VFL Stade's goalkeeper Lars Marczinke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. VFL Stade's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
