After 29 minutes, Peter Timmermann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FSV Krefeld and the Roter Stern Leipzig players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joachim Treiber was the one to do the kick off. Peter Timmermann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christof Zeh having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eidur Seppmann in the 90th minute of play forced FSV Krefeld's goalkeeper Ralph Weichert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 93 minutes into the match, FSV Krefeld's goal looked a bit too open when Eidur Seppmann came free, but Ralph Weichert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
